First Impressions

When I first pulled up to Holiday Home Rokoko in Dubrava, honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a three-star place tucked away in this quiet neighborhood just outside Šibenik. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in understated packages. The property sits on Grubisici street in a residential area that feels authentically Croatian — no tourist crowds, just real life happening around you. The fact that there’s parking right on-site was already a win in my book, especially since finding a spot in Šibenik’s old town can be a real headache.

Location & Getting Around

Dubrava turned out to be this perfect sweet spot — close enough to Šibenik that you can easily explore the UNESCO World Heritage cathedral and those narrow stone streets, but far enough out that you actually get some peace and quiet. I mean, couples clearly get this since they rate the location so highly for romantic getaways. The drive into the historic center takes maybe ten minutes, and you’ll pass some lovely countryside views along the way. What I really appreciated was having that free private parking because it meant I could come and go as I pleased without worrying about where to leave the car.

The Space Itself

The room at Holiday Home Rokoko has this charming, homey feel that you just don’t get at big chain hotels. It’s clean, comfortable, and decorated with touches that actually show someone cares about the place. The name “Rokoko” hints at some baroque influences, and you can see that in the thoughtful details throughout. Everything works as it should — the Wi-Fi is solid, the bathroom is modern enough, and there’s plenty of space to spread out your things. It’s the kind of place where you can actually relax instead of feeling like you’re just passing through.

The Neighborhood Experience

What really struck me about staying in Dubrava was getting to see how locals actually live in this part of Croatia. You’ll hear church bells in the morning, see neighbors chatting over garden fences, and maybe catch the scent of someone grilling fish for lunch. There are a couple of small shops within walking distance for basics, and the whole area has this unhurried pace that’s perfect if you want to decompress from city life. The hosts clearly know their stuff about the area too — they can point you toward the best local spots that most tourists never discover.

Why Guests Love It

That 9.6 rating isn’t just a number — it reflects what happens when a place gets the fundamentals right without trying to be something it’s not. Holiday Home Rokoko works because it’s genuine, well-maintained, and in a location that gives you the best of both worlds. You get easy access to Šibenik’s incredible history and culture, plus you have a peaceful retreat to return to each evening. For couples especially, there’s something really appealing about having your own little corner of Croatia where you can just be yourselves. It’s not fancy, but it’s exactly what you need for a proper Croatian adventure.

  Das Haus liegt abseits vom Trubel mit schönem Blick in die Natur. Das Grundstück ist sehr gepflegt, eingewachsen und nicht einsehbar. Guter Ausgangspunkt für viele Ausflüge, Auto erforderlich.
  Sehr zuvorkommende und liebenswerte Vermieter, die immer erreichbar sind und direkter Nachbarschaft wohnen.
  Die Wohnung im 1. Stock des Hauses ist nicht in der Vermietung. Wir hatten Pool und Garten somit zur alleinigen Nutzung. Die Ausstattung des Gartens inkl. Grillbereich und Poolanlage lässt keine Wünsche offen.

  What could be improved: Gerne das ein oder andere Küchenmesser ergänzen, ansonsten haben wir nichts vermißt.

  Nydelig sted i et stille området. Veldig privat og hjemmekoselig. Ren og fin basseng, avskjermet fra innsyn. Leiligheten var akkurat som på bilder, innholdt alt vi trengte til familieferien. Vi kommer gjerne tilbake. Kort kjøretur til Šibenik med alt en by kan kan by på.
  Fantastiske verter som tok oss imot, gitt oss tips og råd og gjort alt de kunne, og litt til, for at vi skulle trives.

  Ein sehr schönes Appartement mit Platz für 4 Personen. Sehr sauber, wunderschönes, gepflegtes Grundstück mit verschiedenen Sitzmöglichkeiten. Ein herrlicher Pool! Die Freundlichkeit der Gastgeber mit guten Tipps und ihre Hilfsbereitschaft. Ein Ort zum wiederkommen!

  Tweede jaar op rij hier geweest. Zwembad is vanaf ongeveer half september niet meer beschikbaar. Ruim appartement met een fijn terras. En in de buurt van de Rak-winery, waar je uitstekende wijnen kunt proeven en kopen.
  
  What could be improved: Appartement is uitstekend. Wellicht wat ver gezocht: als e vanaf de weg de oprijlaan oprijdt, is er een behoorlijk hoogteverschil. Rustig rijden dus 😉 Geen restaurants op loopafstand.
