Location & Neighborhood

Here’s what I love about Mara’s location — you’re actually living like a local in Šibenik’s historic center, not stuck in some tourist bubble. The narrow cobblestone streets around Ulica Svetog Josipa Radnika wind their way toward the famous Cathedral of St. James, which is honestly just a pleasant five-minute stroll away. You know what’s brilliant? You can park right at the hotel (and it’s free, which is practically unheard of in Croatian old towns), then forget about your car completely. Everything worth seeing is walkable from here, and couples especially seem to get this — they’ve rated the location 8.8, which makes total sense when you’re wandering these medieval streets hand in hand.

The rooms at Mara strike that perfect balance between modern comfort and respecting the building’s character. I was pleasantly surprised by how spacious everything felt, especially considering we’re talking about a historic building in the old town. The air conditioning works brilliantly (crucial during those sweltering Croatian summers), and the beds are genuinely comfortable — not just hotel-marketing comfortable. What really impressed me were the little details: proper blackout curtains for sleeping in, decent water pressure in the shower, and enough outlets positioned where you actually need them.

Service & Atmosphere

The staff here genuinely seem to care about making your stay work, which isn’t always a given at smaller properties. They’re the kind of people who remember your name and actually have useful local recommendations beyond the obvious tourist spots. The whole atmosphere feels more like staying at a well-run guesthouse than a typical hotel — there’s a personal touch that you just don’t get at larger chains. It’s quiet too, which I wasn’t expecting given the central location, but the thick stone walls of these old buildings really do their job.

  Exceptionally clean, very modern apartment. The kitchen and bath have everything you need. Hot, strong shower. There is easy parking and it's just a short drive into Sibenik. No stairs. The apartment owner is lovely and very helpful. Also, this apartment is owned & operated by a person and not a company.

  We liked everything very much, perfect cleanliness, everything is well-kept. Parking for cars near the house. We arrived in the evening and the hostess treated us to delicious food, we did not have to cook dinner for ourselves after a long tiring journey. There is a store and an excellent restaurant nearby. The apartment is fully equipped with everything you need, there is a Smart TV, a large refrigerator, a washing machine, a dishwasher, the owners also supplemented this with washing powder and capsules for the dishwasher, which is a rarity. The area is very quiet and calm. The hosts Zdravka and Mara are incredible!
