First Impressions

When I first walked up to Sentimento on Ulica Jurja Barakovića, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from the outside — it’s tucked into this narrow street in old town Šibenik without any flashy signage. But you know what? That’s exactly what makes it special. This three-star boutique hotel feels more like staying at a stylish friend’s place than some corporate chain, and the 9.8 rating it’s earned makes perfect sense once you’re inside.

Location That Actually Matters

I mean, when they say “heart of Šibenik,” they’re not kidding around. You’re literally steps from the Cathedral of St. James — I could hear the morning bells from my room — and the medieval streets sprawl out in every direction from your doorstep. What surprised me most was how quiet it stays despite being so central. The stone walls are thick, and this particular street doesn’t get the heavy foot traffic that some of the main tourist drags do. Plus, and this is huge for Croatia, they actually have free private parking right there, which saved me about 20 euros a day compared to the public lots.

The Rooms

The rooms blend modern comfort with that old Dalmatian stone architecture really well. Mine had these beautiful exposed stone walls — the real deal, not some fake treatment — paired with contemporary furnishings that didn’t feel out of place. The bathroom was compact but smartly designed, with a rainfall shower that had proper water pressure (you’d be surprised how often that’s an issue in historic buildings). Air conditioning worked perfectly, which you’ll definitely appreciate during those sweltering July afternoons when Šibenik turns into an oven.

The Neighborhood Experience

What I loved about staying here was how it put me right in the rhythm of local life. There’s this little bakery around the corner where locals grab their morning coffee — not touristy at all, just real Šibenik. The waterfront is maybe a three-minute walk, and you can catch boats to the Kornati Islands or just sit at one of the harborside cafés watching the fishing boats come in. Evenings are particularly nice because you can wander the old town streets without dealing with day-tripper crowds, then slip back to Sentimento when you’re ready to call it a night.

Why Guests Love It

Honestly, it’s the combination of location and personal touch that makes this place work so well. The staff genuinely seems to care about your experience — they gave me detailed recommendations for restaurants that weren’t just the obvious tourist spots, and when I mentioned wanting to visit Krka National Park, they helped arrange transportation. Couples especially seem drawn to the intimate atmosphere here, and I can see why. It’s romantic without being overly precious about it, and you’re perfectly positioned to explore Šibenik’s UNESCO World Heritage sites on foot. For the price point, you’re getting way more character and location than you’d find at some generic hotel outside the old town.
