First Impressions

When I first pulled up to Apartment Paola – Šibenik, I’ll be honest — it doesn’t scream “tourist accommodation” from the outside, and that’s actually what I loved about it. This three-star apartment sits quietly in the Donje Polje neighborhood, away from the crowds but close enough that you can walk to Šibenik’s old town in about fifteen minutes. The building itself is typical Croatian residential style, which means you’re staying where locals actually live, not in some sterile hotel zone.

The Space

Inside, Paola has clearly put thought into making this place work for travelers. The kitchen is actually functional — I mean, you can cook a proper meal here, not just heat up instant noodles. There’s enough counter space, decent cookware, and a full-sized fridge that doesn’t sound like it’s about to give up on life. The living area flows naturally into the sleeping space, and while it’s not huge, it never felt cramped during my stay. You know what really impressed me? The air conditioning actually works well, which isn’t always a given in Croatian apartments.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s where this place really shines — Šibenik itself is still relatively undiscovered compared to Dubrovnik or Split, so you get that authentic Dalmatian experience without fighting through cruise ship crowds. The apartment’s location in Donje Polje means you’re in a real neighborhood where people hang laundry on balconies and chat with neighbors. There’s a small grocery store about three blocks away, and honestly, the walk into the historic center is pleasant — you pass through residential streets that give you a feel for how locals actually live.

Practical Matters

The parking situation deserves special mention because, well, anyone who’s driven in Croatian coastal towns knows it can be a nightmare. Having free private parking right on-site is genuinely valuable — I didn’t have to circle blocks looking for a spot or worry about parking meters. Paola was responsive when I had questions, though communication was mostly through messages rather than face-to-face interaction. The Wi-Fi worked fine for staying connected, and the water pressure in the shower was better than I expected (these old buildings can be hit or miss).

Why Guests Love It

Look, this isn’t going to be the fanciest place you’ve ever stayed, but it delivers exactly what it promises. Couples seem to particularly appreciate the privacy and the fact that you can actually live here for a few days rather than just sleep between tourist activities. The 9.3 rating makes sense — it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does well. You’re getting a clean, comfortable base in an underrated Croatian city, with the bonus of free parking and enough space to spread out. For the price point and location, it’s honestly hard to find fault with the place.

  We had a fantastic stay at this apartment. The place was exceptionally clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The owner was very friendly, responsive, and supportive throughout our stay; when we asked for washing machine tablets, she quickly provided them. We particularly enjoyed using the barbecue on the terrace—it was a great addition to our evenings. Overall, our stay was excellent, and we would highly recommend this accommodation.
  
  What could be improved: The only minor downside was finding a lizard inside, but given the location and natural surroundings, this was understandable. If there were one thing we'd suggest for improvement, it would be to have a double bed or a sofa bed in the second room. However, we were aware that the second room had two single beds from the pictures.

  Me gustó todo, la amabilidad de la propietaria para empezar. Atenta y detallista hasta el punto que nos dejó unos tomates de su huerto para probarlos, bebidas en la nevera y un imán de Croacia además de que nos dejó irnos el último día a la hora que quisiéramos, incluso nos dijo que nos quedábamos una noche más gratis. Por otro lado, la ubicación para visitar Croacia es perfecta pues se ubica cerca de las carreteras principales y a mediación de los destinos más turísticos. Tiene aparcamiento propio y el apartamento es literalmente nuevo, impecable y muy limpio. Por todo ello se merece la mejor valoración que se pueda dar.
